What it measures

A comprehensive multidimensional measure of body image attitudes covering both evaluative (satisfaction) and investment (importance) components across appearance, fitness, and health domains. Widely used in research on body image, eating disorders, and physical activity.

Usage notes & scoring

Ten subscale scores. Freely available from Thomas Cash (mbsrq.com). The 34-item MBSRQ-AS (Appearance Scales subset) is widely used when a briefer appearance-focused measure is needed. Suitable for non-clinical and clinical populations.
