What it measures
The WHO-developed screener for adult ADHD symptoms aligned to DSM-IV criteria. Part A (6 items) is particularly sensitive for identifying probable ADHD and widely used as a research screening tool.
Response format
5-point frequency (0=never to 4=very often); Part A (items 1–6) serves as screener
Representative items
- How often do you have trouble wrapping up the final details of a project? (Inattention)
- How often do you have difficulty getting things in order for a task requiring organisation? (Inattention)
- How often are you distracted by activity or noise around you? (Inattention)
- How often do you feel overly active and compelled to do things? (Hyperactivity)
- How often do you make careless mistakes on boring or difficult projects?
Usage notes & scoring
Freely available from WHO. Part A (items 1–6): 4+ shaded responses suggest probable ADHD — refer for full diagnostic evaluation. Not diagnostic alone. Norms available for adult community samples.
