What it measures

The drug-use equivalent of the AUDIT. A brief screening instrument for drug-related problems aligned to DSM diagnostic criteria. Covers frequency of use, consequences of use, and indicators of dependence across all illicit drugs and non-prescribed medications. Validated in criminal justice, addiction, and population samples.

Usage notes & scoring

Freely available from the Karolinska Institute. Total score: 0–5 no drug problems, 6–24 likely drug problems in women (>=2 in men), >=25 probable drug dependence. A companion to the AUDIT for comprehensive substance use screening. Validated in Swedish, English, and multiple other languages.
