What it measures

The scale measures how deliberately a person processes an advertisement's content — how much attention they pay, how carefully they read it, and how much mental effort they invest in understanding its message. It reflects the motivation component of frameworks explaining when advertising persuades, with four items asking respondents to reflect on their own engagement with a specific ad they have just viewed.
