What it measures

A four-item likert scale designed to measure how much emotional distress a person says would be experienced if separated from a particular object.

Response format

7-point Likert (1=strongly disagree, 7=strongly agree)

Scale items

• I feel better if I am not away from or without __________ for long periods of time.
• I miss __________ when __________ is not around.
• If __________ were permanently gone from my life, I'd be upset.
• Losing __________ forever would be distressing to me.
