This scale measures the extent to which seeing an image — such as a photo showing a hand near, though not touching, a product — stimulates mental visualization of holding that product. Jha, Balaji, and Peck (2023) used it in Studies 2a, 2b, and 3.

Alphas were .85, .90, and .89 in Studies 2a, 2b, and 3, respectively (Jha, Balaji, and Peck 2023, p. 367). Validity was not discussed per se, but the scale was used as a successful manipulation check in Study 2a, offering preliminary support for predictive validity. FLAGGED FOR REVIEW: the handbook's Origin section states this scale was 'adapted from a measure created by Peck, Barger, and Webb (2013),' but the accompanying References section instead cites Peck and Childers (2003), 'Individual Differences in Haptic Information Processing: The Need for Touch Scale' — the two citations do not match and the discrepancy could not be resolved from the extracted pages. The Peck and Childers (2003) reference is recorded below pending confirmation of which source is correct. Related to, but distinct from, the existing 'Haptic Imagery Vividness (Product-related)' entry (ID 90009), which traces to the same Peck-authored line of touch-imagery research via a different paper (Ringler, Sirianni, and Christenson 2021).
