What it measures

This three-item scale measures how much a person believes that they, or their family and friends, have suffered from a lack of safety or been at risk of violence. Vieites, Goldszmidt, and Andrade (2022) used it in a pretest of 100 Rio de Janeiro residents, drawn from both a wealthy area and a densely populated low-income area, before the main studies of their research on how social class shapes donation preferences. No source was given for the scale.
