This scale measures the degree to which a person identifies as someone who values and keeps up with the latest technology, treating the pursuit of new technology as a favorite hobby. Smith et al. (2023) used it in Study 5 with data gathered from 275 men recruited from CloudResearch. The key phrases in items 1 to 3 were drawn from a scale by Leung, Paolacci, and Puntoni (2018).

Alpha was .91 (Smith et al. 2023, p. 544); validity was not discussed. Key phrases in items 1-3 were drawn from a scale by Leung, Paolacci, and Puntoni (2018), representing a motivated adaptation rather than a verbatim reuse. Directions: "How much do you agree with the following statements about yourself." A companion identity scale from the same study, worded for a specific task/hobby rather than technology, is also in the database (see Identification with the Task).
