Three seven-point Likert-type items measure a person's momentary desire for more activity, stimulation, and excitement at a particular point in time. The scale provides an indirect indication of whether a person is currently below their optimum stimulation level and is thus seeking additional arousal. It is suited to experimental contexts where stimulation needs are manipulated.
