Usage notes & scoring

Botner, Mishra, and Mishra (2020) created this scale through a three-stage process: first having participants rank candidate words for how well they captured volatility, then testing the resulting ten-item scale's reliability and discriminant validity (vs. aggressiveness/drive), then testing construct validity with a separate sample. Reliability was strong to excellent across stages (α = .89–.93). Six of the ten items are reverse-coded.
