What it measures

Five items assess the degree to which a person felt worried, confused, and preoccupied by the answers they provided in a recently completed task, used as a manipulation check for need for closure.

Response format

6-point Likert (1=strongly disagree, 6=strongly agree)

Usage notes & scoring

Developed by Kardes et al. (2004) as a manipulation check for Experiment 3. Alpha .80. Item 4 is reverse-scored. Blanks should be replaced with the task label. Primarily suitable as a manipulation check rather than a substantive individual-difference measure.
