This scale captures how betrayed, disappointed, and taken advantage of a person felt after a lapse in communal support from others. Malika, Maheswaran, and Jain (2022) used it in a pretest and main study to verify that a norm-violation manipulation worked as intended.

Reliability was strong in both administrations (α = .93 main study, .94 pretest; Malika, Maheswaran, and Jain 2022, p. 265; web appendix p. 13). The authors appear to have created the scale themselves, drawing loose inspiration from an unrelated framework on relational value rather than adapting an existing measure. It was used successfully as a manipulation check in both administrations, which offers preliminary support for predictive validity.
