This scale measures how much a person expects an entertainment performance to be high in quality and better than other performers, based on what they already know about it. Rifkin, Du, and Cutright (2023) used it in Studies 4 and 5 and a supplemental study in research on consumers' preference for spontaneity in live entertainment.

Alphas were .88 (Study 4), .89 (Study 5), and .91 (supplemental study) (Rifkin, Du, and Cutright 2023, pp. 607, 609; Web Appendix J); validity was not discussed. Directions: 'Rate your expectations about the performance, based on what you read about it.' The information source can be changed (e.g., what someone told you, a brief video clip, past performances), and 'singers' can be replaced with another performer type (e.g., musicians, dancers, comedians). The scale appears to have been created by the authors.
