This scale measures the extent to which a person feels cut off from knowing their real, inner self. Bartsch, Zeugner-Roth, and Katsikeas (2022) used the established authentic-personality subscale to help validate their new measure of consumer authenticity seeking.

Composite reliability was strong in Study 6 (CR = .91; Bartsch, Zeugner-Roth, and Katsikeas 2022, p. 309) among 484 U.K. respondents. The scale showed strong discriminant validity from the three dimensions of the authors' new consumer authenticity seeking construct (AVE = .73). Note: this dimension reuses the items verbatim from Wood et al.'s (2008) seminal Authenticity Scale (already catalogued separately in this database, ID 424); reliability here reflects the focal paper's own administration.
