Harmeling et al. (2021) stated the scale was 'based on' Shih (2004), though that article is conceptual with no actual scale — suggesting Harmeling et al. created their own items drawing on Shih's ideas about positive stigma; used with MTurk participants. Reliability was strong (α = .91). CFA supported good model fit (AVE = .78) with evidence of discriminant validity relative to other constructs in the same study. A companion measure, Social Devaluation of Joining the Group (Anticipated), comes from the same study.
