What it measures

Operationalises Pearce's Travel Career Patterns model — the proposition that tourist motivations shift systematically with travel experience. Core motivations (escape, relaxation, safety) dominate for inexperienced travellers; mid-range motivations (relationships, stimulation) emerge with moderate experience; upper motivations (self-development, nature connection) are most salient for highly experienced travellers. The TCP framework treats motivation as dynamic rather than fixed, offering stronger predictive validity than static push-pull models for segmenting experienced travel markets.
